What's a Valve Terminal?

The Valve Terminal is a control component composed of a plurality of electronic control valves, which integrates signal input and output and signal control.

The Valve Terminal was originally invented and applied by the German FESTO company. In order to simplify the installation of the solenoid valve on the whole machine, FESTO launched the PAL aluminum gas path plate, which has a unified air source port. When a large number of solenoid valves need to be installed, the air path plate is particularly effective.

With the widespread use of pneumatic technology, although the gas path has been simplified, the gas path plate can’t achieve the electrical signal transmission of the valve. Therefore, FESTO tries to simplify the circuit on the basis of the simplification of the gas path and is committed to the study of the electric-gas combination - Valve Terminal.

Soon after, multi-pin port Valve Terminal and fieldbus port Valve Terminal were born.

The multi-pin port Valve Terminal is connected to the input/output signal of the PLC by a multi-strand cable with a multi-pin plug and is connected to the output signal end of the sensor by another cable. Compared with the conventional connection mode, the interface of the multi-pin port Valve Terminal is simplified to a multi-pin plug and a multi-strand cable.

The outstanding feature of the bus valve island is that the data exchange between the valve island and the outside world only needs to be realized through a two or four-strand cable. The wiring time is saved, the volume of the equipment is reduced, the anti-interference ability is enhanced, and the data transmission is more reliable.

The combination of Valve Terminal technology and Fieldbus technology not only ensures the easy wiring of electric control valves but also greatly simplifies the debugging of complex systems, performance detection, diagnosis, and maintenance. With the help of the high-level integrated information system of Fieldbus, the advantages of both are fully utilized.
